Ruggedised Underground 3D Laser Scanner

MDL is a Scottish designer of laser measurement technology. We pride ourselves in robust technology to help you reduce your time out in the field. The Void Scanner (VS150 - a cavity monitoring system) is designed to complement the successful Cavity Auto Scanning Laser System (C-ALS®). Both systems are designed for scanning inaccessible voids, but the VS150 has been designed specifically to facilitate boom deployment into stopes, cavities, manholes and bunkers.
The VS150 can be used for routine surveys in areas that are difficult to access or unsafe for personnel to enter.
The Problem
Certain mining techniques require that stopes & cut and fill operations be constantly monitored and measured.
Also, in all forms of mining, cavities and voids of unknown dimensions may obstruct production. The volume and layout of these voids need to be understood.
In other industries, bunkers, manholes, silos, sewers and collapsed buildings may need to be investigated and measured, yet these are all sites that can be impossible or dangerous to access. Time on site may need to be minimised.
The Benefits are:
The Void Scanner is a derivative of the Cavity Auto Scanning Laser System (C-ALS®). It has been specifically designed for ‘boom’ deployment into stopes & voids.
- Operators can see a 'real-time' 3D view of the data generated by the VS150
- The VS150 has been produced to be rugged and reliable to withstand conditions underground
- Fast scanning speed reduces time in the field
- We pride ourselves in fast, efficient & reliable service
- 24hr phone support is available
- The VS150 has been designed to be very easy to operate
Features
The VS150 is small (140mm x 120mm x 503), lightweight (5.0kgs) for extremely rugged. Simple to use, the dual axis motorised instrument scans around 200 points per second and stores the data on ruggedised tablet PC or laptop computer.
The VS150 (Void Scanner) comes complete with MDL's 'VoidScan' software to display point clouds in 3D in real-time.
Data may be exported to most CAD mine survey software packages.
