LaserAce SLM

The LaserAce® SLM module is a compact, rugged, class 1 eye-safe, multipurpose scanning distance meter for integration into OEM applications. Giving a reflectorless range of up to 150m (500ft), they can be additionally integrated into other equipment and suitable software for a variety of applications. For example collision avoidance, security and other industrial/ OEM profiling applications. The laser module turns on its central axes, which means that it is always aligned to the detector making it a very rugged, accurate system.

The laser scanner uses an angle encoder and time-of-flight technology, put simply, it measures the time taken for a very short pulse of infrared light to travel from one window in the unit to a very low noise detector in a co-ordinated second window. The distance and angle to the target is taken from the encoder and the time taken for the light to make its round trip.

The reflected light levels are very low, so the greater the reflectivity of the target, the longer the range over which it can be measured.
